Your stakes should have 6” of the top exposed above ground so the stake holder can be hooked onto the head of the stake, then clamped between the jawAs you push down on the lever arm, the stake is clasped between the mechanism, forcing it to lift the stake upward. You will have to adjust the clamping sides on the stake with each push down on the arm to extract it fully.
